VAS LTD RURAL AMBASSADOR

Judging:

12 noon



Aims:

To highlight the talent, creativity and ingenuity of young, rural Victorians and in doing so encourage entrants to be role models across local communities.


To encourage and reward enthusiastic, skilful and industrious young people, living or having an involvement in rural environments.


To assist all entrants through their participation to develop strong communication and leadership qualities.


Enable the applicant to gain greater proficiency in their chosen field and also to develop the applicants stature and reputation in that chosen field.



Prizes:

A certificate will be provided to winners at local Agricultural Shows. The Yea Rural Ambassador will receive a sash, $100 and a $50 gift voucher from Yea Pharmacy, Yea.


Group winners – Certificate, RAS membership and be provided with an official jacket to wear at the state final to be held at the Royal Melbourne Show in 2018.


State winner – will receive a major prize and an opportunity to compete in the National Final.




VAS RURAL AMBASSADOR QUALIFICATIONS OF ENTRANT:


Entrants must be aged between 20 and 30 years as at May 1st of the year of the State Final.


Finalists may be involved in a rural or agricultural based industry or be associated with a Show Society but do not necessarily need to reside in a rural community.

Judging Criteria:

Entrants to be judged in accordance with the following guidelines:

Country show involvement

General and rural knowledge

Personality

Ambitions/goals

Communication skills

Style, grooming and deportment

10 points


Public presentation (final speech)

Judging:

12 noon



Aims:

To give young people a chance to take part in a competition whilst still residing in their local district. To be part of a local show and therefore highlighting the importance of shows.



Age:

Open to males and females aged 16 to 20 years on the day of the show.



Judging Criteria:

Entrants must wear smart casual clothing and will be judged in accordance with the following guidelines:

Community involvement

Rural and general knowledge

20 points

Ambitions/goals

20 points

Communication skills

20 points

Grooming and confidence

20 points





TOTAL

100 points






The winner will receive a sash, $50 and a $25 gift voucher from Your Wardrobe.


Winner at show society level will compete in a Group Final.


The Group Final winners will compete in a State Final run by VAS Ltd.




Report to show office at 12 noon.

Yea Teen Citizen:

Open to boys and girls aged 13 to 15 years on the day of the Show.

Yea Junior Citizen:

Open to boys and girls aged 8 to 12 years on the day of the Show.


The winner will receive a sash and $25.



Miss Tiny Tot and Master Tiny Tot:

Open to boys and girls aged 4 to 7 years on the day of the Show.


The winners of each category will each receive a sash and $25.
